    Job Description

Join the Worldwide Grocery Store Inventory Management Team in reshaping the future of grocery shopping for our customers. The North America Inventory Management organization is seeking an Instock Manager to join the Shrink & Quality team. This role will support shrink reduction and inventory health across the grocery network, with a particular focus on Sub Same Day and Grocery Fulfillment Center (FC) operations. The successful candidate will work cross-functionally with Inventory Management, Category, Operations, Finance, Business Intelligence and Tech teams to identify shrink drivers, translate data into actionable insights, and drive actions that improve inventory health and reduce waste.

    Key job responsibilities

    • Own recurring analysis and reporting of shrink performance, identifying site-, category- and ASIN-level drivers and escalating emerging risks.
    • Deep dive inventory defects including expiration, excess inventory, shelf life, case pack, ordering and operational drivers.
    • Support development and execution of shrink-reduction initiatives across SSD / FC.
    • Partner with category and site teams to convert analytical insights into clear actions, owners and timelines.
    • Track initiatives against expected shrink savings and drive actions through to closure using established mechanisms.

    • Identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring reporting and analytical processes.
    • Build effective working relationships across Inventory Management, Operations, Category, Finance, BI and Tech.
    • Coordinate cross-functional inputs, meet deadlines, and effectively manage competing priorities.
    • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Work proactively and independently, meet deadlines, and deliver on projects and tasks.

    A day in the life

You will start your day reviewing inventory dashboards and key metrics to identify areas that need immediate attention. From there, you might dive into demand forecasting models, adjust purchase orders, or partner with vendor managers and supply chain teams to resolve inbound issues. You will document your findings, share recommendations with your team, and contribute to weekly business reviews. Expect a mix of independent analytical work and collaborative problem-solving sessions throughout your day.

    It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

    Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
