The Opportunity:
The instructional aide will work as an assistant teacher under the direction of the classroom teacher and the principal. The aide will assist the teacher in providing students with instruction in Spanish and English, and in planning and developing a positive learning environment focused on high academic achievement in two languages. In addition, the aide will work with pupils individually and in small group activities, make and prepare instructional materials, and assist with recess and lunch supervision.
The successful candidate will work cooperatively with grade-level, cluster, and whole-school teams of teachers, including specialists in the areas of ESL, SSL, and Special Education. The successful candidate must help implement an academically and linguistically active curriculum that is developmentally appropriate and socially/culturally responsive to the needs of the dual language student population.
