Requirements / Qualifications

The Fullerton School District is looking for qualified bilingual and biliterate individuals to fill part-time positions. In this position, you will support teachers by providing individualized or group instruction to students and may assist with routine clerical tasks to help streamline the classroom environment.

POSITION DETAILS Type: Part-time (18.75/week) Duration: 9.5 months, including paid holidays, sick leave, and vacation Schedule: Current vacancy - Monday - Friday, hours 8 AM to 11:45 PM Future Opportunities: An eligibility list will be established for upcoming openings, with hours varying based on school site requirements. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE Education: Equivalent to graduation from high school is required. Must show requirements of the Every Student Succeeds Act of 2015 (ESSA), formerly known as the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB): • 2 years of higher education (i.e., 48 units or more); OR • Associate s Degree or higher from an institution of higher learning accredited as recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation; OR • Proof that you have passed the California Basic Educational Skills Test (CBEST); OR • Obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Preliminary Instructional Assistant Proficiency Assessment NOTE Failure to include the required documentation will result in the applicant being required to take and pass the Instructional Assistant ESSA exam.

Experience: Recent paid or volunteer experience working with children or youth groups. Experience with children requiring a specialized learning environment is desirable. Must be proficient in the Spanish language for speaking and writing.

RECRUITMENT & EXAMINATION This is a merged promotional and open competitive recruitment. The examination may include a training and experience (supplemental responses) evaluation, written test, performance test, and/or structured oral interview. All Instructional Assistant candidates must take and obtain a passing score on the Fullerton School District Instructional Assistant Proficiency Assessment. To be placed on the eligibility list, candidates must achieve a passing score on each part of the examination. Final scores will be determined by combining the relative weights of each section. If claiming Veteran s credit, proof of status (DD214) must be submitted to the Classified Personnel Commission Office at the time of application or before testing. The eligibility list will remain active for 12 months and will be used to fill current and future vacancies. Date of Examination The exam date will be announced later. Candidates deemed most qualified will be notified via email or phone regarding the time, date, and location.
