HOURS: Determined by Route (No less than 5 hrs)

SALARY: Range 25 ($24.64 - $29.92/hr)

BASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, assist in the loading and unloading of students with special needs as necessary; assist in providing instruction and care to individuals or groups of students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) or 504s.
Minimum Qualifications Required to Apply
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school with one year experience working with youth in an organized setting.
Essential Duties
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES: Assist in the safe bus transportation and care of students' physical and/or behavioral needs as described in his/her IEP or 504.
Maintain order and discipline among students on a bus following District policies and procedures and communicate with staff and parents as needed. E
Assist in the transportation of students with disabilities to and from designated locations as assigned; lift and secure wheelchairs; assist in the loading and unloading of students as necessary. E
Prepare student conduct, incident reports, and collect data.E
Utilize two-way radio for bus to bus and bus to base communication. E
Attend safety meetings.E
Assist vision-impaired and hearing-impaired students as trained and assigned.E
Participate in staff meetings and in-service training programs as assigned.E
Perform related duties as assigned.E

KNOWLEDGE OF:
Basic instructional techniquesChild guidance principles and practices.
Safe practices in bus activities.Proper operation of wheelchair lift and methods of securing student(s)Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Basic record-keeping techniques.Health and safety regulations.
ABILITY TO:
Observe and control student behavior according to approved policies and procedures.
Maintain order and discipline among students while riding a school bus or in a classroom.
Assist in the instructional and related activities of the assigned environment.

Learn, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Assist in loading and unloading students as necessary.
Lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
