PRIMARY PURPOSE

Assist the schools librarian in all aspects of school library services and programs to ensure that students, teachers, and community members are served efficiently and effectively.

QUALIFICATION

Education Certification High School Diploma or GED required Associate Degree or a minimum of 48 college hours required Paraprofessional Certification required upon employment

Special Knowledge and Skills Clerical Organizational and interpersonal skills Communicate effectively Verbal and written Basic computer Audio-visual equipment and technology skills

EXPERIENCE

One year of clerical work and school-related experience preferred

HOURLY PAY RANGE

Minimum 13.85 Maximum 19.33 Pay Grade IS-02

Note: Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each persons job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Essential Functions

  1. Troubleshoot devices (iPad, Chromebook, MacBook, Lenovo) when needed.
  2. Maintain work orders, sanitize devices, and support students when needed.
  3. Assist librarian to organize, circulate, and maintain library materials and equipment.
  4. Assist students and staff in locating and using materials and equipment.
  5. Maintain records of lost and overdue materials.
  6. Repair materials and equipment as needed.
  7. Assist students and staff in producing instructional media and in using library technology.
  8. Assist in supervising students throughout the workday.
  9. Assist librarian in library lessons, storytelling, computer troubleshooting, and other activities.
  10. Assist in maintaining an instructionally active and functional library setting.
  11. Assist in maintaining campus networking and technology needs.
  12. Participate in staff development.
  13. Monitor student behavior in the library.
  14. Follow McAllen ID customer service standards.
  15. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor or primary evaluator, including campus librarian.
