EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Experience working with children preferred

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work in an instructional support role during virtual speech language therapy sessions.
  • Excellent human relations skills.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of developmental stages of children.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Flexibility to adjust to frequent schedule changes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate the teletherapy program in coordination with the SLP teletherapist.
  • Assist students with logging on for teletherapy sessions.
  • Troubleshoot technological difficulties during sessions as needed.
  • Escort students to the assigned space to access teletherapy sessions.
  • Document attendance, student participation, and concerns from therapy sessions.
  • Communicate concerns/issues to relevant personnel at school buildings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Complete Teletherapy Facilitator Training as directed by the teletherapy provider
  • Complete Instructional Assistant Training (CCPS)
  • Complete Student Safety Training (CCPS)
  • Set up and test technology daily
  • Call classrooms or walk to classrooms to request students for teletherapy services
  • Log individual student attendance daily
  • Log communications with classroom teachers
  • Communicate with teletherapy providers consistently for any schedule changes
  • Communicate with relevant school-based personnel when/if behavioral issues arise

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The environmental factors and/or physical requirements of this position include the following: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light-weight items (e.g., laptop, iPad). Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard. The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear. The employee must have adequate transportation to commute to multiple school sites during a school day.
