Instructional Classroom Support Technician 2

Department: Healthcare Division

Reports To: Dean of Nursing and Allied Health

Salary range: $23.01 - $30.90* Hourly

This part-time position will remain open for a minimum of seven (7) days. The College reserves the right to close the recruitment at any time after the minimum posting period once a sufficient applicant pool has been established. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A.

This position is expected to work not more than 18 hours a week; days and hours will vary depending on the current needs of the department and is not eligible for benefits.

The Instructional Classroom & Support Technician 2 provides technical and instructional support to the Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy Programs at Olympic College. The position prepares and maintains laboratory materials and equipment, supports instructors and students during laboratory practice, monitors open lab activities, conducts demonstrations, and manages supplies and equipment. The position supports a safe, organized, learning-centered clinical laboratory environment and contributes to the College's mission of workforce education and student success.

Essential Functions

  • Monitor scheduled open-lab times; provide access to models, equipment, and practice materials; assist students with laboratory skill practice within established procedures; provide group tutoring or other instructional support as assigned.
  • Prepare equipment, materials, and supplies for laboratory experiences; set up laboratory and clinical classroom materials; operate equipment according to standardized procedures or instructions from instructors or supervisory personnel; clean and return equipment and materials after use.
  • Assist instructor(s) with laboratory materials and activities; conduct laboratory demonstrations as assigned; support clinical class setup and instructional activities; provide clerical or other instructional assistance as required.
  • Conduct and maintain supply and equipment inventories for the Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy Programs; identify supply and equipment needs; assist with purchasing; organize, store, and maintain supplies and equipment to support ongoing laboratory instruction and Medical Assisting accreditation requirements for inventory management.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) certification.
  • Graduated from an accredited medical assistant training program.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of one year of clinical experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • Ability to follow campus regulations and local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and ordinances.
  • Ability to work effectively and positively with individuals and groups from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a healthcare-related field.
  • Washington State Medical Assistant-Phlebotomy (MA-P) certification.
  • One year of clinical experience in phlebotomy.

Work Setting, including Hazards

  • Clinical laboratory and office/classroom setting. Requires punctuality and regular attendance; may require movement across campus and work in laboratory environments. May require lifting/carrying equipment and supplies up to 20 pounds.

This is an hourly position scheduled to work up to 18 hours per week, with a salary of $23.01 - $30.90* hourly.

This is a part-time classified position. All classified positions will start their salary at Step A. After completing the six-month probation, your salary will increase by 2 steps. A collective bargaining agreement exists, and this position is covered by the Washington Public Employees Association (WPEA) Union. Classified positions may qualify for the following benefits:
