POSITION TITLE: Instructional Coach

SITES: To Be Determined

REPORTS TO: Director of Curriculum and Instruction and Principal

START DATE: August 2026

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIRED:

  • Must hold or be eligible to hold appropriate NC Licensure from the NC Department of Public Instruction

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Align with and actively support the district's Curricular Strategic Plan.
  • Design, plan, and deliver high-quality professional learning aligned to school and district priorities.
  • Facilitate and sustain effective Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) at the school and/or district level, grounded in student learning and collaborative inquiry.
  • Differentiate coaching and professional learning based on individual teacher needs, experience levels, and areas of growth.
  • Use multiple sources of data to guide instructional decisions, support teacher teams, and monitor the impact of coaching and professional learning.
  • Collaborate with school and district leaders to align coaching support with district initiatives and instructional goals.
  • Build strong, trust-based relationships with educators through clear communication, active listening, and a strengths-based approach.
  • Model and support the implementation of evidence-based instructional practices in classrooms.
  • Support vertical and horizontal alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment across grade levels and content areas.
  • Provide ongoing coaching cycles (planning, observation, feedback, reflection) that promote teacher growth and independence.
  • Develop and maintain systems and structures that support continuous professional learning and collaboration among staff.
  • Curate and share instructional resources, tools, and best practices to enhance teaching and learning.
  • Integrate and model effective use of instructional technology to support student engagement and achievement.
  • Foster a culture of reflective practice by guiding educators in goal setting, self-assessment, and continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of coaching and professional learning, adjusting support based on evidence and feedback.
  • Advocate for instructional practices, structures, and policies that promote equitable outcomes for all students.
  • All other duties as assigned by the Director of Curriculum and Instruction and School Principal
