Position Title: Instructional Coach

Qualifications: Holds at least a Master's Degree in Education with 5 years experience

Hold valid Indiana Teacher License that is applicable to the grade level/subject

assigned

appropriate and acceptable

Supervisor: Principal

Job Goal: To assist teachers through demonstration and encouragement to provide a

well-organized, smoothly functioning classroom environment in which students can take full

advantage of the instructional program and available resources and to insure that students

master the Indiana State Standards and skills that will help them contribute to their

development as mature, able and responsible citizens

Essential Abilities:

  1. Maintains high ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students

  2. Meets and coaches other staff members to improve performance

  3. Demonstrates and encourages best instructional practices

  4. Demonstrates and encourages a wide variety of instructional techniques which is consistent with the needs and

capabilities of the class or student groups involved

  1. Places special emphasis on differentiation techniques and special education improvements

  2. Leads school effort to review and revise the current curriculum to include remediation/enrichment/assessment

  3. Assists individual teachers as needed to guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum and

establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students

  1. Strives to assist teachers to implement the districts philosophy of education and instructional goals and

objectives

  1. Demonstrates and encourages teachers to use special strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an

understanding of individual students their needs, interests and abilities

  1. Demonstrates and encourages assessment of student progress on a regular basis

  2. Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, and facilities

  3. Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative

regulations

  1. Upholds and enforces school rules, administrative regulations, and policies of the M.C.S. Board of Education

  2. Able to stand for a reasonable length of time and to stoop and bend

  3. Communicate orally and in writing using correct English, including proofreading, correcting documents and

student work

Performance Responsibilities:

  1. Assists principal with remediation/special education/high ability as needed

  2. Assists principal with Summer School planning as needed

  3. Assists principal with integration and articulation of curriculum between MCS schools

  4. Assist with ILEARN testing (if applicable)

  5. Assist principal with trend analysis of school data

  6. Leads school level efforts of MTSS Committee and follow up

  7. Leads school level efforts of remediation

  8. Placement / entry testing as needed

  9. Participates in in-service training programs

  10. Make provisions for being available to staff and administration for educational related purposes

  11. Cooperates with other members of the staff

  12. Participates in the textbook adoption process

  13. Helps students master instructional materials as needed

  14. Demonstrates and encourages independent study, enrichment work, and remedial work

  15. Remains alert to any problem or special information about an individual student

  16. Assumes non-classroom duties as playground, lunchroom, hall, and bus area supervision as assigned

  17. Attends and participates in faculty meetings

  18. Establishes and maintains cooperative and professional relations with other members of the staff

  19. Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading workshops, seminars,

conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of high learning

  1. Keeps abreast of changes and developments in the profession by attending professional meetings and reading

professional journals

  1. Other tasks and duties as assigned by the principal

Terms of employment:

o Rate of Pay: Salary Schedule of Mitchell Community Schools

o Paid Days of Employment: 184 days

o Hours of Employment Per Day: 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

o Duty Free Time per Day (Paid or Unpaid): 30 min

o Conditions of employment as per current Mitchell Community School Board Policy and the current master

contract between Mitchell Community Schools and the Mitchell Education Association

o The employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance abuse in the workplace

throughout his/her employment in the Corporation.

Evaluation:

o Job performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with board policy and the annual evaluation

schedule
