An Instructional Coach is a critical lever in improving student achievement. By working with teachers and collaborative teams in a coaching model, Instructional Coaches can ensure growth in teacher practice that results in increased student achievement. Instructional Coaches work at a system level and are assigned to schools.

Position Goal:

  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills including ability to exchange information on multiple levels, e.g. students, teachers, administrators, district office, parents, public

  • Instructional Coaches can ensure growth in teacher practice that results in increased student achievement.

  • Provide comprehensive instructional coaching including: planning, observing, modeling/co-teaching and providing actionable feedback.

  • Participate and assist in leading curriculum revision and continuous improvement process.

  • Collaborate with teachers and provide research-based strategies for improved instructional delivery.

  • Lead Systemic/Program Professional development or training.

  • Use data to monitor growth

  • Collaborate with building and district leaders regarding teacher practice

  • Serve as a resource in the teacher SLO process

  • Build strong relationships with students, teachers, administrators, and other coaches.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and coordinate curriculum within the assigned building that is consistent with the Wisconsin Academic Standards

  • Assist in planning, course design, course sequence, and textbook selection.

  • Encourage effective teaching techniques

  • Assist in budget planning and management.

  • Coordinate the inventory, repair, and control of all supplies and equipment assigned to the respective area.

  • Membership on school leadership teams

  • Provide direction and coordination for how the curriculum is taught consistent with District initiatives and recognized best instructional practices.

  • Participate and assist in leading curriculum revision and continuous improvement process.

  • Collaborate with teachers and provide research-based strategies for improved instructional delivery.

  • Provide job-embedded informal professional learning integral to the coaching process.

Position Qualifications:

  • Valid WI content area certification

  • Strong pedagogical knowledge and content expertise

  • 3-5 years teaching experience is preferred

  • Previous experience coaching educators.

  • Demonstrated leadership qualities and strong interpersonal skills, including giving and receiving feedback

  • Demonstrated expertise in oral and written communication

  • A proven record of results in an education setting

  • Strong technology background & skills required

  • Formal training and experience in instructional coaching

  • In-depth knowledge of The Framework for Teaching
