Education/Certification: Master's degree from accredited university in relevant academic discipline preferred. Valid Texas teaching certificate

Special Knowledge/Skills: Three or more years of instructional experience in English and/or Social Studies in grades 6-11. Demonstrated expertise in closing achievement gaps for students at-risk of not graduating from high school. Demonstrated ability to create assessments aligned to state standards and interventions for students not demonstrating mastery on teacher-created assessments. Three or more years in a teacher leadership role within the campus, school district, region or statewide. Demonstrated expertise in content, curriculum development, student learning, test analysis, mentoring and professional development, as demonstrated by an advanced degree, advanced training and/or career experience. Student data that illustrates the teacher's ability to increase student achievement through utilizing specific instructional interventions. Instructional expertise demonstrated through model teaching, team teaching, video presentations, and student achievement gains. Demonstrated expertise in classroom demonstrations and external observations. Proof of contribution to profession, such as research, publications, university teaching, presentations, and awards.

Experience: At least three (3) years of successful teaching as measured by performance evaluations, promotions, and portfolio of work

Job Description

Provide curriculum leadership and support classroom teaching to ensure an aligned and articulated instructional program for grades 6-12 in English/Social Studies.

  1. Collaborate with district and campus leaders to identify teacher and student goals.

  2. Analyze district and campus data to assist with development of campus goals.

  3. Monitor and adjust professional development goals based on teacher and student progress throughout the school year.

  4. Help develop campus professional development plans based on campus and district instructional and student needs.

  5. Plan job-embedded professional development utilizing teacher and student data on Campus and District PD days.

  6. Monitor and support Department/Team Facilitator in leading effective Campus Learning Communities.

  7. Ensure Department/Team Facilitator is prepared to facilitate weekly professional development by modeling and coaching.

  8. Observe teacher performance during classroom instruction.

  9. Provide coaching to Department/Team Facilitator and classroom teachers on best instructional practices for students.

  10. Participate as a member of Campus and District Learning Communities.

  11. Coordinate assessments at campus and district level: Common Formative Assessment and benchmarks.

  12. Model and co-teach lessons for teachers.

  13. Facilitate curriculum alignment and clarify scope and sequence, and curriculum.

  14. Assist with lesson plan design.

  15. Other duties as assigned by campus and district leadership.

This is a grant funded position, funded for 1 year. Continued employment is strictly contingent upon availability of grant funds from the Texas Education Agency.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.

Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals.

Posture: Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional districtwide and statewide travel.

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
