Social Studies Instructional Coach

REPORTS TO: Director of Humanities

POSITION SUMMARY: The Social Studies Instructional Coach is a primary instructional leader responsible for supporting the Director of Humanities in the improvement and implementation of the districts social studies program. This role provides essential leadership to ensure that every student derives maximum benefit from the educational system by observing instruction, coaching staff, and providing direct pedagogical support. The Coach works collaboratively to enhance teacher expertise, ensures the delivery of a rigorous K-12 curriculum, and supports the Director of Humanities in reaching district-wide goals.

CERTIFICATION/ENDORSEMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Certification: Requires Connecticut State Department of Education certification in social studies, (026)
  • Experience: Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, and curriculum development, with a proven track record of supporting and enhancing the expertise of teachers.
  • Knowledge and Skills:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, effective instructional strategies, and research related to learning.
  • Ability to learn and implement current educational technologies and software.
  • Ability to motivate people and work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders to promote student academic achievement.

SALARY AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 10-Month work year.

Salary contingent on degree and years of experience: 26-27 School Year: $53,220 - $108,047

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Director of Humanities.
