LITERACY COACH

REPORTS TO: Supervisor of Elementary Reading and Language Arts

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Elementary Reading and Language Arts, the Literacy Coach ensures students receive high-quality literacy instruction by providing teachers in a school building guidance, leadership, expertise and professional development through modeling lessons, observations and feedback sessions, data analysis, and more to improve student achievement. The Literacy Coach serves as the literacy content expert and provides support on curriculum, instruction, and assessment working closely with the administration in a school. The Literacy Coach takes a hands-on approach to improving instruction and effectiveness by working at various levels (classroom, school, district-wide) to directly support instruction, intervention, and English Language Development for all students, including students with disabilities and multilingual learners.

CERTIFICATION / ENDORSEMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Valid teaching certification
  • Remedial Reading and Remedial Language Arts 1-12(102) required, Reading Consultant Language Arts (097) preferred, or Reading Consultant K-8 (096)

Salary: (contingent on degree and years of experience)

26-27 School Year: $53,220 - $108,047

EVALUATION: Evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Elementary Reading and Language Arts or Supervisor of Secondary English Language Arts
