A highly regarded “A” rated charter school in Palmetto, Florida is seeking a dedicated and experienced Literacy Instructional Coach to support teachers and school leaders in strengthening literacy instruction and improving student achievement.
This position is ideal for an experienced educator with a strong background in Science of Reading, evidence-based literacy practices, data-driven instruction, and teacher coaching.
Key Responsibilities
Provide instructional coaching and support to teachers, with approximately 80% of the role focused on teacher coaching and professional development.
Model effective literacy instructional strategies through whole-group and small-group instruction.
Support teachers in implementing Science of Reading principles and evidence-based reading strategies with fidelity.
Coach teachers on foundational reading skills, including phonics, decoding, and encoding.
Assist teachers with collecting, analyzing, and using student assessment data to guide instruction.
Identify instructional needs and provide non-evaluative, constructive feedback to teachers.
Facilitate grade-level collaborative planning sessions and professional learning opportunities.
Support literacy leadership teams and school-wide literacy initiatives.
Partner with school administrators to develop and implement strategies designed to improve reading achievement.
Work with district literacy specialists to support literacy initiatives and approved instructional resources.
Promote literacy across content areas and contribute to school-wide professional learning.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate a high level of professionalism when working with educators and students.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education required.
Valid Florida Teaching Certificate required.
Reading certification or endorsement required, or currently in process with a commitment to complete within one year.
Minimum 3 years of teaching experience.
Minimum 3 years of highly effective instructional practice ratings.
Experience with literacy instruction, including the six components of reading, evidence-based strategies, assessment, data analysis, and differentiated instruction.
Experience conducting professional learning activities, preferably in literacy, and/or experience in an instructional leadership role.
