General Information & Responsibilities
The Instructional Design and Learning Systems Coordinator partners with faculty, staff, and institutional leaders to advance instructional design, learning technologies, and professional development across all instructional modalities. This position implements and supports the College's online learning strategy by providing instructional design consultation, coordinating faculty training programs, managing learning management system (LMS) functions, and overseeing accessibility and compliance initiatives. The coordinator operationalizes Teaching and Learning Center priorities and manages instructional technology systems to ensure high-quality learning experiences aligned with best practices and institutional goals.
Description of Duties
DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Provide instructional design consultation and collaboration with faculty on the development, delivery, and continuous improvement of courses and academic programs across all modalities.
- Recommend and implement effective instructional strategies, technologies, and course design practices aligned with learning objectives, content, and student needs.
- Develop online instructional materials, learning objects, and multimedia resources in collaboration with faculty and staff.
- Prepare and coach faculty for effective course delivery, including course readiness, instructional best practices, and student engagement strategies.
- Training & Professional Development Administration
- Plan, administer, and evaluate faculty and staff training programs related to instructional design, learning technologies, accessibility, and effective teaching practices.
- Contribute to the planning and implementation of major professional development events and College-sponsored programs.
- Deliver, and track required employee training programs, ensuring accurate documentation, compliance, and timely reporting.
- Contribute to faculty onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development initiatives through the Teaching and Learning Center.
- Learning Management System & Technology Management
- Administer and maintain the College's learning management system (LMS), including course shells, templates, and instructional resources.
- Manage LMS administration functions, including monitoring system performance, responding to user requests, and troubleshooting instructional technology issues.
- Oversee and support the effective use of instructional technologies for faculty and students across college-supported systems and tools.
DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:
- Learning Management System & Technology Management
- Administer and maintain the College's learning management system (LMS), including course shells, templates, and instructional resources.
- Manage LMS administration functions, including monitoring system performance, responding to user requests, and troubleshooting instructional technology issues.
- Oversee and support the effective use of instructional technologies for faculty and students across college-supported systems and tools.
- Program Administration, Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Administer the College's syllabus management system, including system oversight, training development, and institutional reporting.
- Administer and oversee online course accessibility compliance, including training, monitoring, and reporting to ensure alignment with ADA requirements and institutional standards.
- Coordinate quality assurance processes, documentation, and data collection related to instructional design and online learning initiatives.
- Operations, Innovation & Collaboration
- Research, evaluate, and recommend emerging instructional technologies and trends to support innovation and continuous improvement.
- Support Teaching and Learning Center operations, including web based and physical resources, instructional equipment and materials.
- Maintain effective, collaborative working relationships with faculty, staff, administrators, and external partners
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution; master's degree preferred.
- Experience in applying instructional design principles in development and continuous improvement of courses and programs.
- Experience administering or managing learning management systems (LMS) in an instructional environment
- Experience working with online, hybrid, or technology-enhanced instruction, including course design and delivery.
- Experience implementing accessibility standards and ADA compliance in instructional materials and learning environments.
- Experience planning, delivering, or coordinating faculty or staff training related to instructional design and learning technologies.
- Demonstrated strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills in a professional setting.
- Experience working in higher education or in related instructional design, faculty development, or learning technology's role.
