This role will lead the design and development of online learning experiences — from initial scoping through content development, quality assurance, and launch — working collaboratively with subject matter experts (SME), media production team, project managers, and eLearning designers. This is a hands-on role that requires both strong instructional judgment and practical fluency with modern eLearning tools. This position is soft-funded and time-limited.

Instructional Design & Course Development 
  • Conduct needs assessments and design/develop appropriate classroom and technology-based training to meet organizational and individual needs.
  • Design online learning experiences that align learning outcomes, activities, assessments, and learner supports.
  • Translate subject matter expert (SME) knowledge into engaging, pedagogically sound, and accessible learning content by applying established learning design principles.
  • Build and iterate on course content directly using modern authoring tools, including instructional materials, learning activities, and assessments.
Collaboration & Learning Technology Integration 
  • Collaborate with eLearning designers and learning technology staff on course setup, assessment configuration, and LMS implementation.
  • Coordinate with media production teams to ensure multimedia assets are instructionally aligned, accessible, and effectively integrated into the learning experience.
Quality Assurance & Project Coordination 
  • Provide project leadership for large projects by establishing goals and monitoring progress to ensure successful completion.
  • Conduct instructional quality reviews throughout the course development lifecycle using established standards, checklists, and review processes.
  • Manage review and revision cycles in collaboration with stakeholders while maintaining quality, consistency, and project timelines.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of course development practices, templates, and team workflows.

Expected Salary:

$74,000-$80,000

Required Qualifications:

Master’s degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and four years of appropriate experience.

Preferred:
  • Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Learning Technology, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field
  • Familiarity with Articulate Review 360 for collaborative review and approval workflows
  • Familiarity with SCORM packaging and LMS course configuration
  • Experience in higher education, nonprofit, or education-focused research environments
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and experience designing for professional development audiences such as educators, coaches, or administrators
  • 5+ years of professional experience in instructional design or eLearning development
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Articulate 360 Rise and Storyline — candidates should be prepared to share a portfolio or work sample
  • Solid working knowledge of instructional design principles and experience applying them in online learning contexts
  • Experience designing for and conducting accessibility reviews in compliance with accessibility standards
  • Familiarity with learning management systems (D2L Brightspace, Canvas, or equivalent)
  • Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with subject matter experts across disciplines
