Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Instructional Designer to design and develop engaging learning solutions supporting the 2027 Dangerous Goods materials initiative. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience in eLearning development, particularly Articulate Storyline, along with image and video editing and accessibility-focused eLearning design.
This is a small, collaborative team that values independence, strong communication, and proactive problem-solving. The successful candidate should be comfortable working with minimal guidance, asking the right questions, and independently driving projects from scope through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop eLearning, instructor-led, and blended learning solutions using Instructional Systems Design (ISD) methodology.
- Develop training materials including facilitator guides, end-user guides, job aids, assessments, and other learning resources.
- Build interactive eLearning courses using Articulate 360, particularly Articulate Storyline.
- Create and edit images, graphics, videos, and audio for learning content.
- Apply eLearning accessibility standards and best practices.
- Partner with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to gather requirements and develop course content.
- Participate in and lead design/scoping meetings as needed.
- Maintain and update existing courses and learning materials.
- Develop assessments, performance measurements, and evaluation instruments.
- Review evaluation data and recommend improvements to training programs.
- Ensure learning materials are consistent, accurate, accessible, and compliant with organizational standards.
- Independently manage multiple projects, priorities, deadlines, and changing requirements.
- Serve as a lead designer and contribute effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of Instructional Design / Learning Design and Development experience.
- Strong hands-on experience with Articulate Storyline / Articulate 360.
- Experience developing professional eLearning content.
- Experience with image/photo editing and video editing.
- Strong understanding of eLearning accessibility requirements and best practices.
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint and Word; Microsoft Office proficiency required.
- Strong project organization, scoping, and time-management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with limited direction.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and critical-thinking skills.
- Ability to manage ambiguity, prioritize competing assignments, and meet deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working directly with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Experience conducting or facilitating design meetings.
- Strong project scoping and requirements-gathering experience.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite.
- Experience with Cornerstone OnDemand.
- Experience developing training assessments and evaluation instruments.
- Experience supporting large, distributed or remote employee populations.
