Job Summary:
The Learning and Development Instructional Designer (the "Instructional Designer") plays a vital role within Ocean State Job Lot ("OSJL" and "Company") by driving the creation of impactful, modern learning solutions. Operating at the intersection of traditional design and emerging technology, this role focuses on content development, collaborative program refinement, and the strategic integration of Artificial Intelligence ("AI") to accelerate production and promote continuous improvement. As a key connector between subject matter experts and stakeholders, the Instructional Designer manages the full lifecycle of experiential learning assets for the entire organization.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum & Content Development: Create comprehensive learner-centric curriculum designs rooted in adult learning principles and develop instructional materials (i.e., e-learning modules, job aids/reference guides, and standard operating procedures) that align with organizational goals. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to transform raw program materials into polished, client-facing learning assets. Utilize quality assurance testing and version control to maintain high standards of quality and consistency across all deliverables.
Metrics and Performance Tracking: Develop learning performance, engagement, and impact metrics and use insights to inform content updates, delivery improvements, and future program design.
Solution Optimization: Research and evaluate emerging tools and technologies to optimize instructional development workflows. Identify opportunities to integrate AI-driven solutions that accelerate product life cycles, enhance content quality, and scale team capabilities.
Needs Analysis: Lead training needs assessments to identify knowledge and skill gaps across business units. Partner with Subject Matter Experts ("SMEs") and stakeholders to translate organizational priorities into clear learning objectives.
Program Piloting Support: Partner closely with members of the Organizational Development team to validate content and pilot programs to ensure seamless instructional delivery and content effectiveness before launch.
LMS Content Management: Partner with the Learning Technology & Program Administrator to manage training content on the Company's Learning Management System ("LMS"). Leverage LMS metrics to track learner progress.
Project Management: Project-manage design projects and collaborate with the project management team to develop project tracking tools and resources. Foster a results-driven environment that emphasizes efficiency and excellence in project execution.
Collaboration: Forge collaborative partnerships with SMEs, facilitators, and stakeholders to facilitate a holistic approach to content development and refresh. Actively participate in information gathering, content validation, and accuracy assurance processes, promoting a culture of shared expertise and knowledge exchange.
Train: Serve as the core internal trainer for the Learning and Development team and spearhead the training of new associates on instructional design best practices, specialized authoring tools, and the LMS.

OSJL Featured Total Rewards & Perks:
The annual salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000. Salary commensurates with years of relevant experience.
