The Instructional Designer provides comprehensive instructional design expertise, consultation, and development support for online, hybrid, and technology-enhanced learning environments. This role advances student-centered, accessible, and innovative teaching and learning practices by applying instructional design principles, learning theories, evidence-based pedagogy, and emerging academic technologies. The position collaborates with faculty and academic units to design, develop, and evaluate high-quality courses that align with institutional standards and support student success, engagement, and achievement.

Preferred Qualifications Conditions of Employment
This is a hybrid position in Norfolk, VA working a traditional work-week. The position requires three days on campus each week with two remote work days. The hybrid status is subject to change based on the needs of the institution.
The equipment provided to staff with approved telework agreements enables them to deliver vital services to University faculty, staff, and students from remote locations. Many of our operations can and should continue as usual, even when the main physical campus is closed. Therefore, all Digital Transformation & Technology employees with an approved telework agreement are generally expected to work during official University closures.
