To provide instructional design and development support related to courses.

Type of Recruitment Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Considerable knowledge in instructional design theory, principles, and practices
  • Considerable knowledge of a wide array of learning technologies
  • Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem resolution techniques
  • Understanding of basic production and implementation of media elements such as graphics, sound, and video
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Extensive skill in the use and operation of both Macintosh and PC platforms
  • Extensive skill industry-standard multimedia and instructional design software programs
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and organize work with strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze information for various audiences

Level and type of experience

  • Considerable experience in the design and development of multimedia instructional materials in higher education and/or industry environment.

Additional Considerations (supplemental knowledge, skills, abilities, education, experience, licensure, certification)

  • Master's degree completion in Instructional design and technology or in a related field of study like Education, Communications, or English writing (Completed or In progress)
  • Some project management experience
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Sufficient generalist knowledge to be able to serve numerous content areas easily and adeptly.
  • Some experience related to clarifying a confusing topic to the point that change can be initiated.

Conditions of Employment

Hourly (wage) employees are restricted to working 29 hours per week on average or 1500 hours in total in the May 1 - April 30 period. This position does not have health insurance, retirement or leave.

This is a remote position, requiring a 29-hour work week. Computer equipment will be supplied for remote work; high-speed internet is the responsibility of the employee.

  • The equipment provided to staff with approved telework agreements enables them to deliver vital services to University faculty, staff, and students from remote locations.
  • Many of our operations can and should continue as usual, even when the main physical campus is closed.
  • Therefore, all division employees with an approved telework agreement are generally expected to work during official University closures.
