The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) provides Phoenix College (PC) faculty with professional development opportunities to improve student outcomes in all instructional environments.The CTL is seeking an Instructional Designer (ID) passionate about teaching, learning, and technology, with experience seamlessly integrating these elements within the classroom.The ID will consult with faculty to ensure high-quality learning experiences, relying on foundational knowledge and skills in instructional design and technology. The ID participates in Distance Learning initiatives, builds and nurtures strong partnerships with PC educators, and serves as a subject-matter expert to enhance teaching and learning outcomes. The ID will create and deliver professional development opportunities to support PC faculty teaching in all course modalities and provide regular faculty support regarding their learning, technology, and professional development needs.
Essential Functions
25% - Serves as instructional design and development subject matter expert and consultant to faculty; collaborates and consults with faculty on the effective application of instructional design strategies and the use of web-based resources, multimedia, and AI tools within instructional systems.
25% - Develop, facilitate, and evaluate faculty professional development opportunities to promote faculty competence in high-impact teaching practices, integrating and using academic technologies, and emerging topics. Use research into emerging industry trends, tools, studies, and data to guide the creation of faculty learning opportunities.
20% - Provide consultation, coaching and support to faculty regarding course content and delivery to increase teaching effectiveness and student outcomes. Support responsibilities include administering the Canvas learning management system, adopting tools (such as Learning Tool Interoperability), and supporting department- and college-supported instructional applications.
20% - Partner with the college Distance Learning Committee to support distance learning quality assurance efforts guided by the college's Distance Learning Plan and Distance Learning Expectations; coordinate Quality Matters (QM) and other quality initiatives.
10% - Perform related duties as assigned.
