This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill part-time, temporary, hourly assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. Position Summary Information
Job Description Summary
This position reports directly to the Director of eLearning and is responsible for the design and delivery of effective instructional and supplemental materials for distance education. Ensures that high quality distance education courses are completed on schedule and within budget and serves as a resource for appropriate use of various media in support of teaching and learning at a distance. Provides faculty professional development and training.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Instructional/ Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Information Technology, Curriculum or a related field and three (3) years of recent related experience.
Master's degree in Instructional/Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Information Technology, Curriculum or a related field and one (1) year of recent related experience in course or curriculum design may be used to qualify.
Required Job Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
In-depth knowledge of instructional design, course design, learning theories and training, including experience with website design software.
Expertise with software that facilitates the design of instruction (storyboards, flowcharts, assessments, course management software, etc.).
Proficient in implementing accessibility requirements and Universal Design for Learning.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to manage and meet deadlines.
Ability to work collaboratively within an academic community.
Ability to understand various operating systems, file structures, file formats, and protocols.
Ability to provide faculty professional development and training in person and online, both synchronously and asynchronously.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Instructional/Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Education, Communications, Information Technology, Curriculum or a related field.
Three (3) or more years of recent experience with Blackboard, Brightspace by D2L, Instructure Canvas, or other learning management systems.
Experience using API and LTI integrations.
Demonstrated technical skills implementing Web-based tools, e.g. HTML, HTML5, streaming audio, video, etc..
Familiarity with graphic design elements appropriate for online instruction.

Develop and/or maintain online web-based resources to enhance development of e-Learning initiatives. Develop and produce online courses, digital instructional materials, and other electronic instructional information consistent with sound instructional design principles. Design and deliver appropriate course assessment instruments.
Job Duty
Work collaboratively with department chairs, faculty, and staff to produce engaging and effective instructional and supplemental materials for distance education courses. Work with faculty on all phases of course development including instructional design, content planning, interactive elements, media evaluation, and implementation.
Job Duty
Consult with faculty on pedagogically innovative teaching methods for blended learning and synchronous distance education. Integrate pedagogically effective instructional technologies in assisting faculty in the design/redesign and delivery of online courses. Train faculty and staff (online and face-to-face) on technical and pedagogical skills necessary for developing and delivering interactive and engaging distance education courses.

Ensure that high quality distance education course development projects are completed on schedule.

Serve as a resource for the appropriate use of instructional technology. Remain current on new technologies as they apply to distance education. Work collaboratively with the Director and co-workers on projects and tasks internal and external to the department. Perform other duties as assigned.
