This role is ideal for a learning professional who excels at translating complex technical concepts into engaging, performance-driven learning experiences that accelerate employee capability and business results.

The successful candidate will bring a strong background in instructional design within technical or engineering environments, combining expertise in adult learning principles, instructional systems design, technical communication, and stakeholder collaboration. Experience supporting engineering teams—particularly electrical engineering organizations—is highly valued.

This is an exciting opportunity to influence workforce development, improve operational effectiveness, and help shape the future of technical learning within a critical infrastructure environment. Located in the vibrant city of Fort Worth, TX, this role offers a dynamic work environment where innovation and tradition come together.

Key Responsibilities

  • Learning & Development
    • Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve performance-based training programs utilizing Human Performance Improvement (HPI) principles, ADDIE methodology, adult learning theory, and user-centered design practices.
    • Create engaging learning solutions across multiple delivery methods, including instructor-led training (ILT), virtual instructor-led training (vILT), e-learning, blended learning, and self-paced digital learning.
    • Develop instructional materials including storyboards, simulations, multimedia content, hands-on exercises, assessments, and learner support resources.
    • Conduct learning needs analyses and performance assessments to identify skill gaps and recommend targeted development solutions.
    • Measure training effectiveness and implement improvements based on learner feedback, performance metrics, and business outcomes.
  • Technical Documentation & Knowledge Management
    • Develop, edit, and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, process documentation, technical manuals, and quick-reference guides.
    • Establish and maintain documentation standards, templates, style guides, and governance processes to ensure consistency, accuracy, and usability.
    • Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and business leaders to capture complex technical processes and convert them into clear, accessible documentation and learning content.
    • Support knowledge management initiatives by organizing and maintaining learning assets and technical documentation repositories.
  • Project & Stakeholder Management
    • Partner closely with engineering teams, business leaders, and operational stakeholders to align training initiatives with organizational objectives.
    • Manage multiple training and documentation projects simultaneously, ensuring quality deliverables are completed on time and within scope.
    • Drive continuous improvement efforts that enhance workforce capability, operational excellence, and process consistency.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Instructional Design, Technical Writing, Learning & Development, or a blended role supporting technical, engineering, utility, manufacturing, or industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience developing technical training programs and documentation for complex business or engineering processes.
  • Proficiency with e-learning development tools such as Articulate 360, Camtasia, Adobe Captivate, or similar platforms.
  • Experience developing, administering, or managing content within a Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Strong project management, organizational, and time-management abilities.
  • Proven ability to work independently while effectively collaborating across cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and process improvement capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Technical Communication, Engineering, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting engineering organizations, technical operations, utility companies, industrial operations, or infrastructure-focused environments.
  • Experience working directly with electrical engineers or engineering-focused teams.
  • Electrical Engineering degree or technical engineering background strongly preferred.
  • Experience applying Human Performance Improvement (HPI) methodologies in technical training environments.
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory, learning analytics, and instructional systems design best practices.

What Sets You Apart

  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate complex technical concepts.
  • Passion for creating engaging, learner-focused experiences that drive measurable performance improvement.
  • Strong consulting mindset with the ability to influence stakeholders and guide learning strategy.
  • Proven success building training programs in highly technical environments.
  • Commitment to quality, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.

If you're passionate about transforming technical knowledge into impactful learning experiences and enjoy partnering with engineering teams to build workforce capability, we'd love to hear from you.
