Rosalyn Yalow Charter School is a K–5 public charter school in the South Bronx dedicated to providing a private school–quality education in a public school setting. With a low student–teacher ratio and a whole-child approach—including academics, chess, visual arts, singing, violin, and fencing—we are committed to closing the opportunity gap for our students. Named a 2020 Achievement Recognition School by the New York State Department of Education, Yalow ranks among the top 13% of schools statewide.
The Instructional Social Worker (ISW) role is part of the Yalow ISW-to-Teacher Pathway Program, a structured career pipeline designed for Master of Social Work (MSW) professionals who aspire to become classroom teachers.
Through this program, ISWs begin as co-teachers in grades K–2, applying their social work expertise to support both the academic and social-emotional needs of students. At the same time, ISWs enroll in the RELAY Graduate School of Education residency program to earn teacher certification.
With hands-on classroom experience, mentorship, and professional development, ISWs gradually take on more instructional responsibility. Upon successful completion of the residency program, ISWs transition into lead teacher positions at Yalow—continuing their careers as educators grounded in both social-emotional learning and rigorous academics.
Starting salary: $76,000
Rosalyn Yalow Charter School is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive school community. We actively seek candidates whose backgrounds and experiences reflect the students and families we serve.
