At the heart of our work is Raul Yzaguirre Schools for Success (RYSS), a PK-12 open-enrollment charter school district serving more than 1,900 students in eight schools that provide a rigorous academic environment grounded in cultural pride, character development, and college readiness. The Teacher Specialist serves as a curriculum and instructional leader, supporting teachers in implementing high-quality, TEKS-aligned instruction. This role focuses on improving student achievement through coaching, modeling, data analysis, and professional development, in alignment with TEA standards and RYSSs mission to empower underserved communities through education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Instructional Leadership • Support teachers in planning and delivering rigorous, TEKS-aligned instruction. • Model effective instructional strategies and co-teach as needed. • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) and data-driven instruction cycles.

• Curriculum and Assessment • Assist in the development and alignment of curriculum maps, unit plans, and assessments. • Ensure instructional materials meet TEA standards and support diverse learners, including ELs and SPED students.

• Coaching and Professional Development • Provide job-embedded coaching and feedback to teachers. • Design and deliver professional development aligned with campus and district goals. • Support implementation of MTSS, RTI, and other intervention frameworks.

• Data Analysis and School Improvement • Analyze student performance data (STAAR, TELPAS, benchmarks) to inform instruction. • Collaborate with leadership to develop and monitor campus improvement plans. • Support state accountability and compliance with TEA mandates.

Qualifications:

Education: • Bachelors degree in Education or related field (required) • Masters degree in Curriculum & Instruction, Educational Leadership, or related field (preferred)

Certification: • Valid Texas teaching certificate (required) • Instructional Leadership or Principal certification (preferred)

Experience: • Minimum 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience • Demonstrated success in improving student outcomes • Experience in coaching or mentoring teachers

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Deep understanding of TEKS, STAAR, and Texas accountability systems • Knowledge of effective instructional practices and adult learning theory • Strong interpersonal and communication skills • Ability to analyze data and use it to drive instructional decisions • Commitment to equity, culturally responsive teaching, and continuous improvement
