Identifies at-risk students in English courses through alert systems, faculty referrals, and predictive analysis. Through in-person and virtual meetings, and other communication, connects students with needed college and community resources. Develops tools and processes to improve student supports and communication. Collaborates with department, college and district colleagues, departments and committees to develop and improve systems that support student success, retention, and completion.
Essential Functions
25% - Uses alert systems, faculty referrals, and other tools to identify at-risk students in English courses. Establishes and maintains communications with identified students to determine needs, connect them with resources, and help them make well-informed decisions.
25% - Establishes and maintains records pertaining to at-risk English students. Collects, analyzes and reports relevant data to department Chair and other relevant audiences.
25% Works collaboratively with English faculty, Learning Enhancement Center, area High Schools, and other college resources to assist all students, but especially "at-risk" students. Attends weekly meetings with english faculty and/or department chair. Serves students in person at the Southern and Dobson and the Red Mountain campuses. Serves students virtually as needed.
10% Provide data to support needed curriculum changes. Assists with the development and revision of student success curriculum, workshops, intervention materials, and other instructional resources that support retention and persistence initiatives in English courses.
10% - Serves on relevant department and college committees, and communicates with relevant college departments to ensure currency in policies and practices. Engages in training as needed.
5% - Performs other duties as assigned.
