The work environment is inside an air-conditioned building. • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. • There are frequent interruptions from the staff and the general public for information or assistance Description Benefits Job Summary Instructional Support Assistants are responsible for providing academic support to students to help them become independent learners and achieve academic success, while also assisting faculty and staff with daily operations as needed. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC's core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. IMPACT STATEMENT: Instructional Support Assistants enhance student learning and success by providing academic support and encouraging students to become independent learners in a welcoming, non-threatening learning environment. Essential Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Tutor and provide general assistance to students and community patrons in an atmosphere conducive to learning. Tutoring includes online, face-to-face, and group sessions. Mentor peer assistants. Continually improve knowledge of subject area(s) and tutoring skills. Assist or attend workshops and seminars for students, faculty, and staff. Encourage students and community patrons to develop confidence and become independent learners. Maintain work confidentiality. Encourage students to develop confidence and to become more independent learners. Maintain an attitude and environment conducive to learning Follow all rules, guidelines, and procedures Maintain and submit accurate time sheets Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Promote a common purpose consistent with the Colleges stated goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment. Possess knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manuals related to the job tasks.
