Position Summary:

A faculty member in the Department of Teacher Education is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in the field of education, fostering a positive learning environment, and supporting student success in accordance with the mission, values, and policies of the A-State Educator Preparation Program. Faculty carry out research, perform service for their respective professions, and uphold standards of the University through shared governance. This position ensures that candidates meet program expectations, develop effective instructional practices, and demonstrate professional dispositions aligned with state and institutional standards.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in development/implementation of the on-line Elementary Education degree program.

  • Teach assigned online and on-campus courses in accordance with approved curriculum and departmental guidelines.

  • Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, class discussions, assignments, and learning activities.

  • Develop course materials, assignments, and follow course syllabi to ensure alignment with program standards.

  • Assess student performance and provide timely, constructive feedback.

  • Supervise teacher candidates during their clinical placements in partner schools.

  • Support mentor teachers and serve as a liaison between the university and school sites.

  • Evaluate candidate performance using program rubrics and assessment tools.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.

  • Utilize appropriate instructional technology, including learning management systems (LMS) such as [Canvas/LiveText].

  • Comply with institutional policies, procedures, and academic standards.

  • Participate in required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities as assigned.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required or applicable to the position responsibilities and area of specialization, including special abilities. Candidates will preferably demonstrate successful teaching experience at the master and specialist levels; have experience with online teaching and the Canvas LMS, and be proficient in utilizing and incorporating technology into instruction and research efforts.

On-campus position

Monday - Friday

8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Additional hours as requested and/or needed

Minimum Qualifications:

An earned Doctorate degree in Elementary Education or in a related field of education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Classroom teaching experience (a minimum of three years) in P-12 public schools in Elementary Education or related field
  • Teaching experience in higher education
  • Teaching experience in on-line teaching and on-line course development
