QUALIFICATIONS

\t

  • A bachelor's degree in business education or computer science is preferred.

\t

  • Must have had at least three years' business/industry experience with computer applications within the last five years to meet certification requirements of the Business, Marketing, and Information Technology Education Division of the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education.

\t

  • Must be able to provide effective instruction in accounting, business communications, office and computer technology, software applications, records management, entrepreneurship, and digital communication strategies.

\t

  • Must possess the technology skills necessary to effectively utilize current computer systems, multimedia equipment, digital communication tools, instructional technology, and related business applications in the classroom environment.

\t

  • Knowledge of Canvas, or other online curriculum management system is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Develop and present curriculum related to business technology to high school and adult students in such a manner as to provide them with marketable job skills upon completion of the training program.

  2. Demonstrate knowledge and utilization of a Learning Management System for online instruction and accounting.

  3. Evaluate the accomplishments of students and provide grade cards at the end of each scheduled quarter.

  4. Establish a Business and Education Council to provide information to help establish relevant curriculum and current equipment to be used in the program and meet with this council formally at least twice a year.

  5. Maintain continuous contact with businesses and industries throughout the district that employ people in the business technology field. Gain information regarding new techniques, equipment which could be implemented in the program, as well as seek employment for graduating students and ideas for curriculum development and recruitment.

  6. Abide by all policies and procedures adopted by the Meridian Technology Center Board of Education and assist administration in implementing all policies and/or procedures governing student conduct.

  7. Join and participate in professional and trade associations, as well as civic organizations.

  8. Attend all staff meetings called by the Superintendent, Executive Director of Instruction, and Director of Instruction.

  9. Maintain records and prepare and submit all reports required by the Superintendent and/or Director of Instruction.

  10. Maintain accurate inventory records and closely monitor use of inventory items in the program to prevent loss, damage, or theft.

  11. Promote Meridian Technology Center and its programs and employees at every available opportunity, with specific responsibilities for recruitment and promotion of the program.

  12. Maintain up-to-date equipment in the program for relevant training of students.

  13. Work with students involved in the Business Professionals of America and organization to develop leadership skills.

  14. Help students find realistic on-the-job training situations or full-time employment upon satisfactory completion and exhibition of good work ethics.

  15. Arrange for performing maintenance on machines as needed and when applicable to keep the equipment in top operating condition.

  16. Utilize proper purchasing procedures.

  17. Must be able to occasionally lift items weighing as much as 25 pounds (computer monitors, system units, keyboards, tables, etc.) and/or push items weighing up to 50 pounds on a dolly or cart.

  18. Utilize assigned working hours (7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.) efficiently and report to the Director of Instruction any exceptions. Be available in the program to assist students by 7:40 a.m. and 12:35 p.m. daily as well as after scheduled class time.

Contract Length

10-month position (August 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027)

STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE

The Business Technology Instructor will be evaluated on the previously listed responsibilities to determine satisfactory compliance. These evaluations will determine salary increases and career advancement possibilities.
