Job Summary
General:
The role and mission of LSCO places major emphasis upon the teaching component. Therefore, the instructional faculty position at LSCO has an emphasis on teaching, scholarship, and service. The apportionment of responsibilities may be modified for a specific position and for a specific semester due to classes not making or other variables which affect teaching assignments. Faculty will be expected to teach assigned classes according to approved course syllabi or instructional dean.
About the TXST-LSCO Gateway Program:
The TXST-LSCO Gateway Program is a co-enrollment partnership between Texas State University and Lamar State College Orange that provides students with an affordable, structured pathway to a Texas State degree. Students co-enroll at both institutions, taking LSCO coursework and Texas State courses taught on the San Marcos campus, while enjoying full student privileges at both schools. Upon successful completion of two long semesters and maintenance of a 2.25 GPA at each institution, students earn guaranteed admission to Texas State University without reapplication.
Job Summary:
The Full Time Faculty members responsibilities include, but are not limited to, providing instruction for students enrolled in core curriculum classes on the Texas State University campus as a part of the TXST-LSCO Gateway Program. This individual attends workshops, seminars, and conferences to upgrade teaching skills; and assists in the development of curriculum, as needed. Each faculty member will schedule office hours which will include the normal working hours (7:30-5:30), not excluding evening hours when classes are in session. During these office hours, the faculty member will be available to counsel students and will be available for departmental, divisional, and institutional obligations.
