Summary --------

The Division of Liberal Studies seeks a dynamic, collaborative, and student-centered full-time faculty member in the field of history to join the Social Sciences Department. The successful candidate will primarily teach core-level world history courses with a significant concentration of dual-enrollment students and will also demonstrate the ability to teach upper-level courses in a regional specialization or in thematic areas such as gender, race, or ethnicity.

Responsibilities ----------------

  • Teach 30 credit hours of history courses per year (fall and spring semesters)
  • Provide a minimum of five office hours for student interaction per week during fall and spring semesters
  • Design, develop, and assess course and program content
  • Participate in college and/or community service
  • Explore the integration of high-impact practices into the history curriculum
  • Teach daytime, evening, and weekend courses across all platforms (face-to-face, online, and hybrid)

Requirements ------------

  • Masters degree in the field of history required
  • Earned doctoral degree in history would be an asset
  • A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience required
  • Experience teaching in community college preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching survey courses in World History required
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching using a range of teaching and learning methods/pedagogies required
  • Ability to create inclusive learning environments for heterogeneous groups of learners required
  • Successful candidates should demonstrate ease using technology and software applications, including Microsoft Office
  • Capability to teach using Online Electronic Resources preferred
  • Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communications required
  • Experience using a Learning Management System required
