The Department of Mathematics at the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology invites applications for an Instructor or Lecturer for the Fall 2026 semester. This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited position. The position may continue semester-by-semester, dependent upon performance, department need, funding, and student enrollment.
The applicant is sought to teach one or more online asynchronous sections of introductory mathematics courses (ranging from Trigonometry to Calculus III) to an audience of undergraduate students majoring in various STEM disciplines. An earned Master's degree in Mathematics or a closely related field and excellent communication and English skills, both verbal and written, are required. Experience with online courses and the Desire2Learn learning management system are desired.
The department offers a B.S. degree in Mathematics along with specializations in Actuarial Science and Data Science, and minors in Mathematics and Computational Statistics. Faculty members are actively involved in a variety of interdisciplinary research and service activities across the campus.
