Position Summary
Under the supervision of the division director, associate dean, and/or Dean, Instructional Affairs, the Instructor teaches students according to established policies and procedures to provide competent and effective classroom and laboratory instruction at varied times and places based on student demand.
POSTING DATE: MAY 22, 2026
SALARY: Based on education and experience commensurate with Salary Schedule D1 IB for 9 months (range: $46,590- $72,709). Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.
Additional salary for summer employment (D1 IB for 3 months, $14,384 - $22,488). Summer employment is contingent upon student enrollment and the needs of the College. Higher education could earn placement on a higher salary schedule.

This position will be based initially at Wallace in Dothan, Alabama.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Instruction. Provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Student Learning. Evaluate the progress of students in all classes according to institutional, divisional, departmental, and individual criteria.

Qualifications
Masters degree or higher in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution is required.
Current unencumbered licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Alabama is required.
Three years clinical experience as a Registered Nurse is required.
Experience using Blackboard learning management system is preferred.
Employment experience in nursing education is preferred.
Experience with nursing education or heath care facility accreditation processes is preferred.
ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The President will appoint an Advisory and Interview Committee to include representatives of the College faculty and staff. This committee will employ appropriate procedures, including the review of application packets, interview, and demonstration of competency, to determine which applicants are to be recommended to the President for further consideration. From all the applications received, an advisory committee will select the applicants to be interviewed.
Applicants must travel at their own expense for interviews that are conducted in person.

Sick Leave
All regular full-time instructional staff earns one day of sick leave which is equivalent to 7 hours per month. Unused sick leave is rolled over to the following year. Upon retirement, employees are allowed to convert unused sick time into service time for the purpose of retirement. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. Responsibility for the management and administration of the TRS is vested in its Board of Control. The Boards of Control elect the Secretary-Treasurer who serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the RSA and is responsible for the day-to-day management of the RSA. Tobacco Usage Premium
The tobacco premium applies only to the PEEHIP Hospital Medical and VIVA Health plans. Refer to the Wellness Program section to learn how you and/or your spouse can receive the non-tobacco user discount.
Wellness Premium
The wellness premium applies only to the Blue Cross Blue Shield Hospital Medical Group #14000 plan for non-Medicare eligible active and retired members, non-Medicare-eligible members on LOA or COBRA, and non-Medicare-eligible spouses on active or retired contracts. Refer to the Wellness Program section to learn how you and/or your spouse can receive a wellness premium waiver.

Tuition Assistance
This tuition waiver program is designed for all full-time instructional and non-instructional employees of The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education and their dependents as defined under by policy. The program will be coordinated by each institution for employees within The Alabama College System and the Alabama Department of Postsecondary Education. An application form for the tuition assistance program is available in the Human Resources office and should be completed prior to registration for classes.
