Monmouth University is seeking applications for a Temporary Instructor position in the Department of Professional Counseling in the Wayne D. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences with an anticipated start date of Fall 2026. This appointment is for AY2026-2027; which may be renewable up to a maximum of three years, inclusive of the initial appointment. The search will remain open until the position is filled.

This is an in-person, on-campus, non-remote position.

The Department of Professional Counseling offers a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, which aims to develop mental health professionals who can effectively address issues of wellness, personal growth, and pathology for the benefit of a diverse population.

This 60-credit program, which prepares students for licensure as Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC), is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

This program satisfies academic requirements for the LPC and LCADC by providing coursework in the core areas required for licensure. Our graduates are expected to contribute to and be leaders in their field through practice, education, and professional excellence.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • An earned Master’s degree in Professional Counseling or a related field.
  • Demonstrated potential for effective teaching at the university level.
  • Ability to work constructively with members of the University community. 

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • One year of graduate-level teaching experience in Professional Counseling or a related field at a college or university
  • Documented expertise in their area(s) of teaching responsibility and knowledge of the content delivery method (e.g., distance learning)
  • Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or other related counseling credential

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Teach 12 credits per semester in Fall and Spring
  • Develop and deliver course lectures, discussions, and assignments in accordance with the curriculum and learning objectives and University policies regarding use of its LMS (eCampus).
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student engagement and academic success.
  • Develop and administer projects and exams to evaluate student learning outcomes and provide grades in a timely manner.
  • Other duties as assigned.
