Overview:

The Instrument and Electrical Technician (I&E Tech) is responsible for safely and responsibly maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing the instruments and electrical systems in the Hanging Rock polystyrene plant.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for working as an electrically skilled person as defined in AmSty's Electrical Safe Work Practices. Longer term as this person gains experience, he/she will be expected to perform the role of facility representative as defined in the electrical safe work practices.
  • Troubleshoots and diagnoses instrument and electrical problems and selects and implements corrective actions.
  • Identifies and repairs DCS and PLC hardware problems.
  • Troubleshoots and programs PLC software.
  • Calibrates process instruments according to applicable standards. Operates and maintains instrument and electrical testing equipment.
  • Maintains electrical hardware typically up to 480 volts, but higher voltage electrical infrastructure as well.
  • Plans, prioritizes, and schedules instrument and electrical maintenance with input from the Operations Manager and Activity Coordinator.
  • Develops and implements corrective actions identified in incident reports and work orders.
  • Completes instrument and electrical system preventative maintenance activities.
  • Requests/performs failure analysis as needed.
  • Helps designs instruments loops and electrical systems. Specifies, requisitions, and installs instruments and electrical components (measurements of flow, temperature, pressure).
  • Serves as electrical subject matter expert on expense and capital project reviews.
  • Follows and ensures compliance of plant safety and maintenance procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma is required.
  • Five years of experience as an instrument or electrical technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Also preferred - two-year craft degree and electrical license.
  • Includes working outdoors, sometimes in inclement weather.
  • Must be able to climb stairs.
  • This job may require lifting up to 50 lbs.

Other Information:

  • This position is part of the Hanging Rock manufacturing organization and is located at the Hanging Rock polystyrene plant in Ironton, Ohio. Relocation assistance is not authorized for this position.
  • The grade and salary level offered to the successful candidate will be appropriate to the job duties and commensurate with the candidate's experience.
  • The work schedule for this position is day shift (8 hrs.) with opportunity to work a 9/80 schedule after a minimum 6 months in the role. Call-ins on nights and weekends are part of the position. The successful candidate is expected to work overtime, normally less than 15%.

Relocation is not available with this position.
