This role focuses on installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting instrumentation and electronic systems used in oilfield and industrial applications. The I&E Technician is responsible for ensuring equipment operates safely, accurately, and efficiently in both shop and field environments. Success in this position comes from strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
Key Responsibilities
Install, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot instrumentation and electronic systems
Work with measurement and control devices including radar level measurement, pressure and temperature instruments, and flow measurement systems
Install and service gas measurement equipment including flow computers, Coriolis meters, magnetic flow meters, and turbine meters
Troubleshoot and maintain digital level switches and related instrumentation
Assist with PLC operation and basic programming tasks
Perform low voltage wiring and assist with control panel work
Support and maintain radio networks and wireless communication systems
Work with communication protocols including Modbus, HART, and Ethernet
Read and interpret electrical schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals
Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance
Respond to field service calls and support customer operations as needed
Ensure all work is completed in compliance with company policies and safety standards
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including service reports and logs
Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner
Provide excellent customer service while working in the field and interacting with clients
Participate in on-call rotation as required
Other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in instrumentation, electronics, or electrical systems preferred
Knowledge of oil and gas well operations
Familiarity with instrumentation and measurement systems such as radar level, pressure, temperature, and flow measurement devices
Basic understanding of PLC operation and control systems
Knowledge of low voltage wiring and communication systems
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
Excellent attention to detail
Strong customer service and communication skills
Ability and willingness to learn new technology
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
Ability to work in outdoor and industrial environments
Ability to safely lift, carry, and move up to 75 lbs
Preferred Qualifications
1–3 years of experience in instrumentation, electrical, or I&E-related field
Experience working in oil and gas or industrial environments
Familiarity with gas measurement systems and flow computers
Experience with communication protocols such as Modbus, HART, and Ethernet
Basic PLC programming experience
