Job Summary:
Join our team in beautiful San Diego, CA, where you will provide on-site customer and operations support to internal BDB San Diego customers. Your responsibilities will include installation, qualification/validation, calibration, maintenance, and repair service of diagnostic and general laboratory equipment and instruments. Occasionally, after-hours, holiday, and weekend support may be required based on business needs.
Job Responsibilities Include:
  • Installing and servicing instrumentation with minimal supervision, following current ISO standards.
  • Maintaining documentation in accordance with cGDP requirements and standards.
  • Completing service documentation as required by position function or Instrumentation Management.
  • Exercising maturity and judgment in time management, customer communication, and work schedule control.
  • Reporting quality and technical problems to Instrumentation management and relevant parties.
  • Completing all administrative documentation required by the position in a timely manner.
  • Supporting empowerment areas and continuously improving team processes for a more efficient work environment.
  • Performing calibration, maintenance, and repair activities for all laboratory equipment at the BDB San Diego Site as needed.
Education and Experience:
EDUCATION:
  • High School Diploma/GED is required.
  • Ideal candidates have US Military TMDE/PMEL or Instrumentation experience.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics/Computers/Biomedical Engineering is desired.

EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum 7 years of recent related work experience in servicing laboratory equipment and plant instrumentation, with experience troubleshooting complex electronics.
  • Minimum of 5 years direct experience with ISO 9001: 2008, 10012, 17025, or 13485.
  • Experience with medical devices and equipment, including PCs/software/LIS/networking/database management knowledge, is highly desirable.
  • PC-based equipment and application software knowledge is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Refrigeration Equipment Calibration, Maintenance, Repair, and Troubleshooting is desirable.
Knowledge and Skills:
  • Good working knowledge of electronics and electro-mechanical devices.
  • Effective communication and customer service skills, including technical writing and training.
  • Effective interpersonal, organizational, prioritization, and administrative skills.
  • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, changes in priorities, and time-sensitive projects.
  • Ability to perform component-level troubleshooting and analysis effectively.
  • Customer service-focused with a strong understanding of Calibration Principles, Calibration terminology, Loop Checking, Troubleshooting, Start-up, Maintenance, and repair activities.
  • Proficient in using electronic test equipment and reading schematics. Computer and data skills are required.
  • Priority Setting: Able to prioritize effectively, focusing on critical tasks and working with management to reprioritize as necessary.
  • Technical learning: Quick to learn new technical skills and industry knowledge.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. Frequently and up to 70 lbs. Infrequently.
  • Must be able to handle bending and stooping over prolonged periods (up to 10 hours).
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods (up to 10 hours per day).
  • Must be able to push/pull materials up to 100 lbs.
Work Environment:
Environmental Conditions:
  • Occasionally works in noisy conditions.
  • Personnel Protective Equipment required, including safety glasses, gloves, and safety shoes.
