Milton Hershey School (MHS) is one of the world's best pre-K through 12th grade private schools, where approximately 2,200 students from disadvantaged backgrounds are provided with a cost-free home and a top-notch education. Thanks to the generosity of Milton and Catherine Hershey in 1909, the school is fully endowed today, with the resources to ensure students can thrive. The school has prepared over 12,000 graduates to lead fulfilling and productive lives and is expanding to serve more students for future generations.
MHS is seeking a part-time Instrumental Music Teacher. This is a 10-month position (August through June), up to 29 hours per week, including before, during, and after school, along with some weekends. This role will support the band directors and provide comprehensive instructional, logistical, and organizational support for the school's instrumental music program across the elementary, middle, and senior divisions, including marching band, concert band, indoor ensembles, event ensembles, and related performance activities.
Key responsibilities include teaching individual and small-group instrumental lessons for students in grades 4-12; assisting with music instruction, sectional rehearsals, full ensemble rehearsals, and assessing student progress. The Instrumental Music Teacher supports curriculum development and practice programs, reinforces proper instrument care and performance skills, and promotes leadership and team building. MHS teachers are represented by the Milton Hershey School Education Association (MHEA).
