Our client, a global leader in bioethanol, biofuels, and biochemical process technologies, is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Engineer ready to advance into a project engineering role. You will work alongside senior project engineers on capital projects for industrial process facilities worldwide.
 
Salary Range: $110,000–$135,000 annually. Compensation is negotiable and commensurate with experience, technical expertise, industry background, and overall qualifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and review instrumentation, control valve, control logic, HMI/graphic screen, and controls documentation.
  • Create instrument specifications, datasheets, and equipment selections for new process plants.
  • Read, develop, and modify P&IDs, wiring diagrams, interconnection drawings, and installation details.
  • Size and specify control valves and primary flow elements.
  • Lead instrumentation design activities and coordinate with multi-discipline engineering teams.
  • Support FAT testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and plant start-up activities.
  • Maintain internal and industry standards for instrumentation and control systems.
 
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent technical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in Instrumentation & Controls Engineering, Process Engineering, Industrial Automation, Manufacturing, or Instrumentation.
  • Proficient knowledge of PLCs, DCS systems, industrial process controls, and process instrumentation.
  • Experience with commissioning, troubleshooting, automation system start-up, and FAT testing.
  • Ability to work independently, solve complex technical problems, and collaborate effectively.
 
Preferred Software: Chemical or similar simulation software, Microsoft products, Bluebeam (or PDF equivalent for drawing markups), Fisher Specification Manager, Emerson sizing software.
 
Travel: Potential travel of up to three months per year could be expected, particularly in plant start-up years. Must be willing to travel to foreign countries and potentially be away for periods up to four weeks.
