Job Summary:

The Instrumentation, Controls, & Electrical (IC&E) Technician is primarily responsible for the maintenance and repair of all instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment, in the Power Plant and associated facilities. The Instrument and Electrical Technician perform work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation, and removal of all electronic and electrical Power Plant equipment and systems.







Main Duties
  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems, as well as emergency backup systems.
  • Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings, for all designated equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining and controlling spare-parts inventory, to maintain Plant reliability. Assist in physical inventories.
  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of Plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records.
  • Work shifts, as required to support the operation of the Plant.
  • Inspect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries; and work with electrical systems, up to and including 4,160 volts.
  • Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), and turbine-control equipment.
  • Maintain all Plant instrumentation and electrical test equipment.
  • Fully support and participate in CG Safety and Regulatory Compliance Programs.
  • Complete other tasks, as assigned by Maintenance/Plant Manager.
  • And other duties as assigned.










Qualifications and skills
  • Ability to understand procedures and instructions, specific to the area of assignment, as would be acquired in four (4) years of high school.
  • Graduation from an accredited Instrument Technician Program desirable.
  • Experience with SAP or other Computerized Maintenance Management System.
  • Work experience as a technician with increasing responsibility in a related industry.
  • Excellent verbal and writing communication skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and be self-directed, as well as ability to apply creative solutions, to unique Instrumentation & Electrical issues.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to use most common computer programs such as Microsoft Excel, Word, etc.
  • Must be able to work from blueprints.
  • Experience in a Power Plant environment is preferred, to include the following:
  • Instrumentation and control systems used in modern power stations, combustion control, boiler controls, turbine controls, and machine-condition monitoring.
  • Electrical systems used in modern power stations, including 13.8 KV switchgear and motors, 4,160 volt-switchgear and motors, 480-volt motors and control centers, transformers, batteries, inverters and chargers, main generators, and excitation equipment.
  • Physical requirements include standing on your feet for extended periods, requiring stairs and ladder climbing; and routinely lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Protective equipment must be worn in the performance of some duties (e.g., hard hats, safety glasses, air masks, ear protection, chemical suits, hot gloves, high-voltage protective equipment, etc.). Working with hazardous materials may be required.
  • Position requires extended working hours and varied shifts, with the possibility of weekend and holiday work; as required by schedules, workloads, and Plant conditions.
  • There are extensive smoking restrictions, in and around the facility.

The expected salary range for this position is $35 – $50 per hour. This range reflects the base salary for this role and is determined based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and geographic location.
