Hybrid: 3 days onsite, 2 days remote (Mon/Fri remote, every other Friday off)
Travel: Local client site visits ~1 day/week; <10% occasional travel
Eichleay is hiring an Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Designer with SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) experience to support refinery and oil & gas projects in Ferndale, WA. This role focuses on developing loop diagrams, instrument indexes, and construction-ready design packages while supporting field execution and commissioning activities. It is best suited for designers who have worked in industrial or refinery environments and enjoy bridging design and field operations.
Design / Execution
Develop I&C design deliverables, including:
Instrument Index and I/O Lists
Loop diagrams (SPI)
Wiring and conduit diagrams
Schematics and installation details
Location plans and IFC construction packages
Utilize SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) for data and design management
Perform material takeoffs (MTOs) and support man-hour estimates
Project / Field Support
Collaboration
Required Qualifications (Must-Haves)
Experience as an Instrumentation or Controls Designer in refinery or oil & gas environments
Hands-on experience with:
SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI)
Loop diagrams and wiring design
Proficiency in:
AutoCAD
Navisworks and Bluebeam
Experience supporting construction packages, RFIs, and field execution
Ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working onsite in refinery or industrial facilities
Familiarity with:
ISA, API, ANSI, NEC standards
Basic understanding of electrical systems and deliverables
Experience supporting turnarounds or capital projects in process industries
