Job Description

JT4 is seeking an Instrumentation Operations Engineer Manager for their Edwards AFB location in California.  

Must be a U.S. citizen.

The Instrumentation Operations Manager will perform the same technical functions while providing leadership and oversight of the Instrumentation Operations section, including supervising personnel, managing schedules and resources, supporting hiring and training, and maintaining a strong safety culture.

Job Responsibilities

Leadership & Management Responsibilities – Manager Level

  • Supervise the performance of work performed by employees assigned to the Instrumentation Operations section.
  • Set employee work schedules and account for time worked by section employees.
  • Interview prospective employees and make related hiring recommendations when unit vacancies occur.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to instrumentation personnel.
  • Monitor staffing, workload, schedules, and resources to ensure operational requirements and project deadlines are met.
  • Contribute to the development of operations and expense budgets for the section and control costs and resources accordingly.
  • Provide training, coaching, and mentorship to section employees.
  • Develop and maintain a safety culture compliant with all JT4 and Air Force requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, logistics, program management, and other functional areas to ensure section activities support overall program objectives.
  • Perform a variety of engineering or supervisory tasks and any other position-related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS – EDUCATION, TECHNICAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited academic institution with four years of related engineering experience, or an accredited Master of Science in
  • Engineering with at least two years of related engineering experience.
    Analog and digital electronic fundamentals, familiarity with various sensors such as strain gauges, accelerometers, and thermal sensors, and an understanding of digital logic and EU conversions.
  • Proficiency with a multimeter, oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, and signal generator to accomplish tasks such as checkout, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Expertise in reading and applying schematics, mechanical drawings, wire diagrams, block diagrams, and technical publications.
  • Knowledge of IRIG 106 Telemetry Standards and TTC hardware/software.
  • Experience with a variety of electrical, instrumentation, and avionics systems on aircraft, including bench testing.
  • Must currently hold, or be eligible to obtain, a DoD security clearance and required special access.
  • Must possess a valid, state-issued driver's license.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.


Additional Qualifications – Manager Level

Candidates considered for the Instrumentation Operations Manager level must also demonstrate leadership or management experience, ideally including:

  • Two or more years of experience leading or managing technical teams, engineering personnel, or projects.
  • Leadership experience may be gained through a formal supervisory or management position or through serving as a technical or project team lead.
  • Experience coordinating or delegating work, managing schedules, resources, or project activities.
  • Experience providing training, mentoring, coaching, or technical guidance to team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead technical personnel while maintaining project schedules, quality standards, and customer requirements.


Compensation

Instrumentation Operations Manager: $125,000 – $180,000 annually.

Final level and compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, technical experience, leadership experience, and overall fit for the position.

Shift Options: 6:30 AM–3:00 PM or 2:30 PM–11:00 PM.
