Instrumentation Technician
Location: River Rouge, MI (Zug Island)
Facility: Heavy Industrial Coke Battery
Schedule: Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM

About the Opportunity
This role supports continuous-process instrumentation in a rugged heavy industrial environment.
This position requires hands-on transmitter calibration experience in live, harsh conditions. Dyno-only or lab-only experience is not sufficient for this role.

• 7:30 AM – 3:30 PM
• Overtime available
• Pay: $36.15/hr
What You’ll Do
• Calibrate and maintain industrial transmitters in continuous-process environments
• Work with control valves, PLCs, and DCS systems
• Troubleshoot instrumentation loops and process signals
• Perform hands-on calibration to defined specifications (non-dyno)
• Support live process operations with minimal downtime
• Read and interpret P&IDs, loop diagrams, and control documentation
• Work closely with electricians, operators, and maintenance teams
• Maintain strict compliance with safety and PPE requirements
What You Bring
• Proven experience calibrating industrial transmitters in the field
• Experience with continuous-process instrumentation (required)
• Working knowledge of control valves, PLCs, and DCS systems
• Comfort working in harsh, high-heat industrial environments
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
Critical Screening Note
• Dyno-only or bench-only calibration experience is not sufficient
• Candidates must have experience calibrating transmitters in live industrial process environments
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid driver’s license
• Authorized to work in the U.S. (no sponsorship available)
• Ability to pass drug screen and background check
• Strong safety background
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
• High-heat industrial setting with exposure to hot surfaces and open flame
• Continuous exposure to dust, fumes, Coke Oven Gas (COG), and particulates
• Loud noise levels requiring hearing protection
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions
• Work at heights, in confined spaces, and on uneven surfaces
Mandatory PPE Includes:
• Fire-retardant clothing
• Respirators and SCBA as required
• Fall protection systems
Respirator compliance required:
• Clean-shaven policy enforced (mustaches above the lip permitted)
