QUALIFICATIONS
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active license to practice law in at least one U.S. state
  • 2–5+ years of litigation experience, preferably in insurance defense or toxic tort/environmental law
  • Experience handling complex insurance coverage and liability claims
  • Knowledge of toxic tort, asbestos, pollution, and environmental litigation matters
  • Strong understanding of insurance policies, contracts, and coverage interpretation
  • Experience conducting discovery, depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
  • Trial experience in complex civil litigation preferred
  • Ability to manage high-exposure, multi-party litigation cases
  • Strong analytical, research, and legal writing skills
  • Excellent negotiation and settlement strategy skills
  • Ability to work independently in a remote/work-from-home environment
  • Strong communication and client relationship management skills
  • Experience mentoring or supervising junior attorneys or paralegals preferred
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple active cases
  • Familiarity with litigation best practices and risk management strategies
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with claims teams, clients, and internal stakeholders
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide legal representation and advisory services for insureds and company in complex commercial insurance claims
  • Handle high-exposure toxic tort, environmental, pollution, and asbestos-related claims
  • Resolve complex and high-risk claims through litigation, trial, hearings, arbitrations, and appeals
  • Interpret insurance policies, contracts, and coverage issues to determine liability and exposure
  • Develop, communicate, and implement litigation strategies in coordination with claims departments and clients
  • Conduct discovery, including document review, interrogatories, and evidence analysis
  • Take and defend depositions in preparation for trial and settlement negotiations
  • Participate in motion practice and pre-trial proceedings as required
  • Prepare and try complex cases involving environmental and health hazard exposures
  • Identify and pursue settlement opportunities to resolve claims efficiently
  • Evaluate cases and lawsuits in accordance with company guidelines and best practices
  • Collaborate with claims professionals, clients, and internal teams on case strategy and resolution
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior attorneys and paralegals on legal and procedural matters
  • Maintain accurate documentation of case progress, filings, and legal actions
  • Manage caseload involving toxic tort, asbestos, pollution, and environmental litigation matters
  • Support risk mitigation efforts through legal analysis and strategic claims handling
  • Work remotely while managing assigned cases and court responsibilities as needed
