Insurance Collections Specialist (AR Follow-Up) - Hybrid | Mesa, AZ
Pay: $20-$24/hour | Temp-to-Hire Opportunity
We are partnering with a growing healthcare organization in the Mesa area to identify a skilled Insurance Collector / AR Follow-Up Specialist. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in medical billing, insurance follow-up, and revenue cycle management who is looking for a stable role with long-term potential.
This position offers a temp-to-hire pathway, allowing you to demonstrate your skills and transition into a permanent position while working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
- Perform timely follow-up on outstanding insurance claims to ensure accurate and prompt reimbursement
- Analyze Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) and payer responses to resolve denials, underpayments, and discrepancies
- Submit and track appeals, corrected claims, and rebills to drive claim resolution
- Communicate with insurance carriers via phone, portals, fax, and written correspondence to determine claim status
- Maintain accurate documentation in billing systems while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and payer regulations
- Collaborate with billing, coding, and administrative teams to improve reimbursement outcomes
What We're Looking For:
- 1+ year of experience in medical collections, insurance follow-up, or healthcare AR
- Strong understanding of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer guidelines
- Ability to interpret EOBs, identify denial reasons, and take corrective action
- Experience with EMR/EHR systems and payer portals
- High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to handle high-volume workloads and meet productivity goals
