Description
Insurance Coordinator, Community Health and Wellness
Valley Health Partners, Allentown, PA
Provides counseling to patients and their families regarding covered services and financial responsibility. Performs financial counseling review, interdepartmental communication, staff education, and policy development regarding billing procedures, provider schedule maintenance, and computer/insurance informational support while adhering to the established standards and practices.
Education:
High School Diploma or GED
Associate’s Degree in Business, Health Care or related field, preferred.
Experience:
1 year Computerized physician billing and 1 year within a healthcare setting
More than 1 year of computerized physician billing within a healthcare or Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting, preferred.
Needed Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively with patients, peers, and professional colleagues.
Ability to work independently with precision and accuracy.
Ability to transcribe dictated physician notes for correspondence and patient medical records with high level of accuracy.
Ability to prioritize workload and complete assignments in a timely manner.
Familiarity with all aspects of coding.
Excellent customer service, communication skills, and ability to handle stressful situations.
Knowledge of insurance carrier, Medicare, Medicaid, and Managed Care regulations.
Familiarity with all aspects of coding including ICD-9, CPT, and HCPC's, preferred.
Technological literacy required including Microsoft Office applications, IDX, and LastWord, preferred.
