EXPERIENCED DENTAL INSURANCE COORDINATOR

Smile Institute Miami is seeking an experienced Dental Insurance Coordinator to join our growing dental practice.


We are looking for a knowledgeable, detail-oriented, and confident insurance professional who understands the complexities of dental insurance and can effectively manage insurance-related responsibilities from verification and benefits breakdowns through claims, EOBs, follow-up, and appeals.


The ideal candidate will have strong dental insurance knowledge, excellent communication skills, and experience working with both in-network and out-of-network insurance plans.


POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Verify patient dental insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Obtain and accurately document insurance benefit information
  • Review deductibles, annual maximums, frequency limitations, waiting periods, exclusions, and coverage limitations
  • Provide accurate insurance benefit breakdowns to patients and the dental team
  • Explain dental insurance benefits and patient financial responsibility clearly and professionally
  • Review treatment plans and determine expected insurance benefits
  • Prepare and submit dental insurance claims accurately and promptly
  • Monitor outstanding claims and follow up with insurance companies
  • Review EOBs for accuracy and identify underpayments, denials, downgrades, and discrepancies
  • Handle insurance claim corrections and resubmissions
  • Prepare and submit insurance appeals and supporting documentation when appropriate
  • Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status, benefits, payments, and policy requirements
  • Research denied and pending claims and determine the appropriate next steps
  • Maintain organized insurance records and documentation
  • Work closely with the treatment coordinator, front desk, doctors, and clinical team
  • Assist with pre-treatment estimates and insurance predeterminations
  • Stay current with insurance company policies, procedures, and dental coding requirements
  • Assist patients with insurance-related questions and concerns
  • Protect patient confidentiality and follow HIPAA requirements
  • Help maximize legitimate insurance reimbursement while maintaining accurate billing practices
  • Assist with accounts receivable and insurance follow-up as needed
QUALIFICATIONS


  • Previous dental insurance experience is required
  • Strong understanding of dental insurance terminology and benefit structures
  • Knowledge of dental procedures and CDT codes
  • Experience with dental insurance claims and EOBs
  • Experience handling insurance denials, downgrades, and appeals
  • Knowledge of PPO and out-of-network dental insurance plans preferred
  • Experience verifying eligibility and benefits
  • Strong computer and data-entry skills
  • Experience with dental practice management software preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines
  • Professional, dependable, and responsible
  • Ability to communicate confidently with both patients and insurance representatives
  • Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills
IDEAL CANDIDATE


The ideal candidate is someone who knows dental insurance inside and out and is comfortable taking ownership of insurance accounts from beginning to end.


We are looking for a professional who can confidently identify insurance issues, research denials, follow up on unpaid claims, understand EOBs, and communicate clearly with patients and insurance companies.


Strong attention to detail, excellent follow-through, and a proactive attitude are essential.
