Insurance Coverage & Litigation Associate

Weston & Agness LLP is seeking an experienced litigation associate to join our insurance coverage and litigation practice in El Segundo, California.

We are a boutique law firm representing national and multinational insurance carriers in complex coverage matters and bad faith litigation in California state and federal courts. Our practice includes high-exposure first-party and third-party coverage disputes, declaratory relief actions, and insurance coverage counseling.

\n

\n

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of litigation experience and strong research, writing, and analytical skills. Experience in insurance coverage or insurance litigation is preferred but not required.

\n

\n

This position offers the opportunity to handle sophisticated matters with meaningful responsibility and direct involvement in all phases of litigation, including drafting pleadings and dispositive motions, written discovery, taking and defending depositions, attending mediations, appearing in court, and assisting with trial preparation. Associates also have the opportunity to work directly with clients and develop substantive insurance coverage experience.

The position is full-time and hybrid, with our office located in El Segundo, California.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years of litigation experience
• \n
• California Bar admission
• \n
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
• \n
• Experience drafting pleadings, motions, briefs, and other substantive legal work
• \n
• Experience taking and defending depositions and appearing in court
• \n
• Ability to independently manage assignments and deadlines
• \n
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• \n
• Federal court experience strongly preferred
• \n
• Insurance coverage and/or insurance litigation experience is preferred
• \n
• First-party and/or third-party insurance coverage experience is a plus
• \n
