Job Summary:
The Insurance Defense Attorney will represent insurance companies in defending claims brought against policyholders. The role involves handling a diverse caseload of insurance defense matters, including personal injury, property damage, and other insurance-related disputes. The ideal candidate will have strong litigation skills, a solid understanding of insurance law, and the ability to provide effective legal counsel to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Case Management: Manage a caseload of insurance defense cases from inception through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
Litigation: Represent clients in court, including trials, hearings, and depositions. Prepare and argue motions, conduct depositions, and develop litigation strategies.
Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, insurance adjusters, and other parties involved in the case to provide updates and discuss case strategy.
Legal Research: Conduct legal research to stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and legal precedents. Apply findings to develop case strategies and arguments.
Negotiation: Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients when appropriate, aiming to resolve cases efficiently and favorably.
Trial Preparation: Prepare cases for trial, including identifying and interviewing witnesses, preparing exhibits, and drafting trial briefs.
Documentation: Ensure all case-related documentation is accurate, complete, and filed in a timely manner. Maintain detailed records of case proceedings and communications.
Collaboration: Work closely with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure cohesive and effective case management.
Compliance: Ensure all legal practices and procedures comply with state and federal laws, as well as ethical standards.
Qualifications:
Education: Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
