Integration & API Architect
Hybrid - 2 days per month, onsite, in Newark, NJ is required
The Integration & API Architect plays a critical role in defining enterprise integration and API standards across the organization. This senior-level position focuses on creating reusable integration patterns, API lifecycle frameworks, and enterprise-wide connectivity strategies. The Integration & API Architect collaborates with application development, infrastructure, data, and security teams to ensure scalable, consistent integration practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop enterprise API design standards including REST, GraphQL, and gRPC.
- Create a library of integration patterns (synchronous, asynchronous, event-driven, batch).
- Define API lifecycle management processes and service mesh communication standards.
- Establish API gateway and event-driven architecture patterns.
- Build reusable templates for integration use cases and API contracts.
- Define integration testing, error handling, and non-functional requirements.
- Develop modernization roadmaps and rationalize integration platforms.
- Train solution architects and review designs for pattern compliance.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years in enterprise or integration architecture.
- 5+ years creating standards and frameworks.
- Expertise in API design, governance, OpenAPI/AsyncAPI, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience with platforms like Apigee, MuleSoft, Kafka, and AWS API Gateway.
- TOGAF and cloud certifications preferred.
